Thank goodness it’s Friday. I like to try and have my free Friday letters queued up and ready to go for a 9am CST send, but it just didn’t happen this week, so here I am at almost 2pm CST sending you some things to think about as you head into the weekend. Read it now, read it later — either way, I’m glad you’re here.
So, real quick: I feel like I’m not the best at making quick, catchy tutorial reels, but really wanted to share my updated wash day and styling routine with my fellow curly girls, so I recorded it this week and put it together. It actually turned out a lot better than I thought. I just see all these young things with great lighting and full makeup doing these reels and am like… I don’t have the time.
Anyway, if you have curls or know someone who does, check out this 2:30 minute reel I made documenting exactly what I do on wash days and shop the products I mention here in my LTK shop!
WATCHING 📺
I mentioned last week how we watched the first episode of High Potential and weren’t blown away but were willing to give it a second go. We’ve now watched the second episode and have decided it’s awful. Now to be fair, I do not like crime shows. I’ve never been an SVU girlie or true crime junkie, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t do anything for me? I just think Kaitlin Olson is so fucking hilarious and this show is not hilarious and not very well-written. It’s just corny and silly, and I’m not into it. What can I say? Actually, I *can* say she looks fucking amazing for almost 50. Anyway, hate the show.
This week, we watched the first episode of The Industry. This show debuted in 2020, so we’re late to the game but the first episode was SO good? It set things up really well and even had a big WHOA moment in it, so we’re hooked. I know Jon Snow joins the cast later on, and I believe we’ll keep watching because we really enjoyed it.
GBBO (Great British Bake Off) starts tonight!!! PRAISE HIM. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year whenever a new season drops, and I’m so excited to have a new team of bakers to love while I finish baking this baby.
Also, I’ve heard amazing things about Nobody Wants This, so I’m hoping we start that this weekend or next week. I have loved Adam Brody since he was Seth Cohen on the OC.
LISTENING TO 🎧
I know David Chang gets a bad rap for being an asshole to work for, HOWEVER, he directly addresses it in this episode of the Whiskey Ginger podcast, and it is so fucking good. I’ve never heard Andrew Santino have such a serious, heartfelt, in-depth discussion with a guest, and I found this back and forth riveting. I have an incredible soft spot for men in their early 40s because I’m married to one so I love hearing how similar their takes on the world at large are. It gets me going.
MAKING 🔪
A great way to spend a fall weekend? MAKE THIS PUMPKIN FRENCH TOAST. I saw
make this the other week, immediately demanded the recipe from her, and made it last weekend. SO GOOD. I got a loaf of brioche and let it get stale, then went to town. Jessie advised me to had a TBSP of white sugar, so I did and it was perfect. This chalupa “recipe” has been in my family forever. It’s so easy to throw together on a weeknight and extremely tasty. Bookmark it to make for the family sometime soon!
Brocc Your Body’s tortilla soup may be the best homemade tortilla soup I’ve ever had. The flavors are phenomenal! I made an entire pot this week and it was gone in two days. P.S. Having an immersion blender for stuff like this is game-changing.
Lastly, I made these banana oatmeal cinnamon muffins last night, and they are deeeeelicious. The crunchy oat topping really sends them over the edge, and they were super easy to assemble.
SHOPPING 🛍️
We don’t have a “drop zone” in our house, so our shoes, bags, leashes, keys… all of it has always been pretty scattered. That all changed last weekend when Zac put this number together I ordered from Wayfair. It’s already made a world of difference; alas, we hate the hooks that came with it, so I ordered these way cuter hooks instead and we’ll be installing them this weekend to complete our new entryway situation!
We also needed some baskets for the top cubby holes for organizational purposes, but the dimensions were kinda weird (i.e. not measurements you can easily find on Amazon) so I ended up getting some custom ones from Etsy. We decided to order them in the green color to tie into our new kitchen cabinets, and they should be here this coming week!
Hey, remember that Madewell tote I ordered? I hate it. It’ll be in September’s TIBAR letter, so more on that later. In the meantime, I landed on this Cuyana tote in red because red is a neutral and even got it monogrammed with EGM. I have a feeling I’ll love it. It seems like the perfect everyday tote if you ask me.
If you know a new mom, please get her this little book. One of my besties gave it to me when we found out I was pregnant, and I read it for the first time last week and sobbed. It’s just so sweet and cute and lovely and very inclusive.
My parents are coming over tomorrow to help us do A LOT of nesting, so I am feeling very excited and hopeful that, come Sunday, I will feel way more settled into the house and be able to share renovation pics with the general public soon. So stay tuned and have a great weekend!

Can’t wait to make those muffins this weekend!
You are brave for watching that High Potential thing! I couldn't get myself to!
