A Chat with Becca Freeman About Her Debut Novel, The Christmas Orphans Club

Becca Freeman and I have been Instagram friends for years now, and first met back in 2019 during the Bad on Paper Podcast tour. Becca reached out to me and asked if I’d like to be a part of the Dallas panel, I said yes, and we became IRL friends. Fast forward to last May, I was in New York to see a few old coworkers, and Becca and I made time to grab oysters and martinis at one of her go-to spots, The Mermaid Inn. So, in total, Becca and I have hung out twice, but it’s one of those kindred social media friendships that feels natural even miles apart.

All that said, the co-host of Bad on Paper podcast and co-creator of RomCom pods wrote her very first book that is debuting exactly a week from today on September 26. The Christmas Orphans Club is a story of four friends who are growing up and possibly in different directions, which some are handling just fine and others, well, aren’t. Set during the holidays, this book is cozy, hilarious, and heart-warming, all while paying homage to the greatest loves of our lives — our friends.

Becca and I got on Zoom last month to discuss her debut novel, including the writing process, the origin of her ideas, and so much more. Watch our discussion and be sure to order your copy of The Christmas Orphans Club ahead of next week!
