On a Monday?! WHO IS SHE?

Not that anyone noticed, but I skipped the Free Friday letter last week. Why? Because I didn’t have the time nor the content to write it. However, the weekend provided me both of those things, so now I’m ready to roll.

Order of Business (OOB) #1

’ Substack, but it’s because you are honestly not an intelligent human if you don’t subscribe to it. Sorry, I don’t make the rules!!! Here’s what makes her so badass: She was a Substack OG and, after trying to sell a cookbook to so many publishers and contiunuously being rejected, she focused on her Substack instead and it’s the #1 cooking Substack now and ultimately led her to finally getting that cookbook deal.

She has almost a half million subscribers and for good reason — Caro’s recipes are just… perfection. Her taste is immaculate, her recipes are easy, and the flavors are always out of this world. Everything I made for dinner and lunch last week was by her, and it was all so delicious. This week, I’m making her Honey Soy Glazed Cod, Skillet Cheddar Turkey Burgers, and “The Dankest Taco Salad.” I’d link them, but they’re behind a paywall. Just… treat yourself and your tastebuds and sign up.

We finally started The White Lotus season 3 and are really enjoying it so far. We’re taking it kind of slow because #Ziggy and #limitedfreetime, so we’ve only made it through episode three, but it’s starting to pick up. I have no idea who the shooter is, but what I do know is that Patrick Schwarzenegger is a little too good at being a creepy fuck boy, Jason Issacs is in deep shit, Leslie Bibb looks incredible for 50 and that fucking face she makes when her friends ask if she voted for Trump was Emmy-worthy, I am obsessed with Aimee Lou Wood’s teeth and that she leans into them, Uncle Baby Billy could be Jim Carrey’s brother, Parker Posey is a national treasure (we’ve known this, though), Gaitok is just so adorable and Mook better not fuck him over (she will), I really want Belinda to get it on with her mentor. Also the three “best friends” talking shit on each other whenever one leaves the room is just too real. We’ve all known those women. May we know them but not be them. And if we are them, maybe reevaluate ourselves and our friendships.

We gave the new comedy Deli Boys a try and were out after the first episode. Maybe it gets better, but the pilot just felt very stiff and very scripted. Almost like a comedy equation rather than a real, unique comedy. It has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, so maybe we just weren’t in the right mood?

We also threw Argylle on last night (a 2024 spy comedy starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell (who is Leslie Bibb’s partner of almost 20 years!!!)) and made it 36 minutes before looking up and realizing we were both on our phones, not at all engaged with the movie. The plot was actually kind of cute and clever, but it just didn’t grab us and we don’t have time to waste on mediocre entertainment.

I know I’ve mentioned Mo News before, but it just feels worth mentioning them again. If you are looking for unbiased, non-partisan news reporting, this is it. Mo and Jill do a great job breaking down daily headlines and giving you the information to decipher how you want. They’re absolutely left-leaning, but they’re not emotional about it which makes all the difference when you’re trying to be informed in every sense of the word. There’s an episode every single day so you’re always up to date with what’s going on, and it’s pleasant to listen to — not depressing or hateful or fear-inducing.

You might’ve caught it on Saturday morning, but Madewell is having a 25% off sale (with an extra 40% off for sale items), so I met my mom at the mall Friday afternoon with Ziggy in tow to do a little shopping. I posted what I got on my Instagram stories and linked everything in the LTK Shop, but I’m going to do the same here in case it’s easier! Also, I’m over giving my size for things I buy. The fact of the matter is everything runs differently, and I know my body measurements very well so I know what to order. I will let you know if things run big, small, or TTS, but giving you an actual size just seems pointless to me.

(1) These demi-fine half-pave hoop earrings just spoke to me, what can I say?

(2) My summer motto is you can’t have enough lightweight, white blouses. This one is so flattering on, especially with big boobies. TTS.

(3) Where have barrel jeans been all our lives? It blows my mind that just a few years ago, if they weren’t skinny jeans, they weren’t touching my legs. How far we’ve come! These are pretty phenomenal. They come in a few washes, but I went with the Dobbins wash. TTS.

(4) The perfect denim dress doesn’t exi– yes, yes it does. And it’s this one. It’s literally perfect. No notes. TTS.

(5) This striped dress is supposed to be oversized and shapeless. It’s much cuter in person than it is online or in pictures, and I know this because my mom and aunt were with me when I tried it on, and they both liked it and they are very harsh critics so. It does run large, so size down! I’m a large in most things right now and took a small.

(6) The perfect denim shorts don’t exi— YES THEY DO AND THESE ARE THEM. The length is literally exactly right, and they fit like a damn glove. They are extremely true to size and extremely flattering.

(7) None of my belts fit me right now 🙃 so I treated myself to one that does, and love it.

Other things I have my eye on and might order to try out: this sheer maxi dress, this adorable white mini dress, this gingham print dress (I’m oddly obsessed with gingham print right now), and this white denim dress.
