MobLand, restaurant-quality salmon curry, the PERFECT margarita, a bathroom spray that actually smells lovely, my home decor rampage, and more!
ICYMI, I shared a pay-walled letter this week about how both my sister and I are trying to lose weight this summer — me, the “old fashioned” way (calorie deficit/exercise/etc) and her, using a GLP-1 to facilitate a jumpstart. It was quite a vulnerable thing to share, but we’re excited we did and the response has been very “women supporting women whatever it is their goals may be,” which we approve of.
Two Sisters. Four Months. One Common Goal. Two Different Approaches.
"Two weeks ago, Allie called to tell she that she saw her GP, and they’ve decided she’s going to get on Zepbound... My reaction was complicated, as we both knew it would be. I love my sister and I want her to be happy and confident, which she hasn’t been in years. But I hate the 'cheating,' or better yet, the 'band-aid' effect of it all..."
I have a feeling her experience with a weight loss drug will inevitably change my stance on it all… or maybe it won’t. Regardless, we’re both looking forward to cheering the other on, as we always do.
READING
Moving very slowly on The God of the Woods because, well, I literally only read at night right before bed so it’s more of a falling-asleep tactic than a really digging into the book tactic. Allie started it after me and finished it within days, to which I ask “How does it feel to be better than everyone?”
So far, I’m really enjoying it. I typically don’t go for thrillers (books, movies, or podcasts), but if Allie can handle it, I can (she STILL covers her ears during suspenseful scenes in movies or shows).
Two of my besties have read it and thought it was good, not great. But readers everywhere seem to LOVE it. So… we’ll see.
WATCHING
MobLand. Period.
Holy fuck, this show. If you’re into Guy Ritchie or mob-centric themes or super thick British accents or brutality or intensity or general violence and mayhem, this show is for you. It stars Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Patty Considine (AKA King Viserys from HOTD) and is about the two biggest mob families in London coming for each other. Tom is EXCELLENT as the head henchman, and Helen is infuriating and terrifying as the loose cannon matriarch who’s out for blood. Each episode exposes something else about the depths of fuckery going on, and it’s addicting. There’s also a Joffrey-like character that will make bring you right back to the murderous feelings you felt during his run on GOT.
TLDR: It’s fucking epic, yeah?
LISTENING TO
Nowadays, I basically rotate between these three playlists:
MAKING
Anything involving coconut milk (the canned stuff; not the boxed shit that tastes like nothing) usually hits for me, and this Red Curry Salmon by Skinnytaste is better than red curry salmon I’ve gotten in actual restaurants, I STG. Just make it.
Now these next two recipes aren’t mine but I frankensteined recipes to make them so I put them on really amateur digital recipe cards for y’all. They’re seriously very ugly but I just felt it was the best way to share them with you so you can screenshot or print them if you want! I’ll have Allie help me out in the future if recipe cards become a thing around here.
SHOPPING
Most bathroom sprays smell, funnily enough, like shit. I don’t do Poo-Pouri anymore. It got old to me. But every bathroom needs some way to cover up your stink, so I sniffed a ton of options at Target (my favorite pastime) and landed on this Peony scented one from Mrs. Meyer’s. It’s truly a fucking delight, even when sprayed over your residual poo particles floating in the air. Promise.
I also spotted this funky teal vase during said Target trip and immediately grabbed it for our dining table. I’m on a bit of a home decor rampage, i.e. updating little things here and there all throughout the house. So if I’m posting more home goods lately, that’s why. To go in said vase, I purchased this “wild flower bouquet” from Amazon and it did the trick. I’m not trying to overthink these things — I just want to spruce our place up a bit.
Also from Target, these sports bras. I love the adjustable straps and the price, so I’ve loaded up and have one in every color at this point.
Remember the candle warmer lamp craze last year? Or was it the year before? Regardless, I bought into it and then realized they’re absolutely heinous atrocities. Thusly, I got rid of the lamp version and got this much chicer, straightforward candle warmer and it looks great in our bathroom (works like a charm, too).
During our renovation last summer, we moved a TV into our bedroom atop our dresser and left it there. When I tell you we haven’t turned it on since August 2024, I am not lying. We just aren’t tv-in-bed people. Not yet, anyway. So we finally moved it out, which means I have a dresser to decorate now. My first order of business? A big ass round mirror. This one from Joss & Main is 3.5 feet and utterly perfect in the space. Pictures to come once it’s all set up.
My hair accessory collection is ridiculous. I don’t wear 75% of it and yet, it grows. I added to it this week with this big flat claw because I figured it would be ideal for working out and laying down without getting in the way like typical claws do, and I was right! I love it and want more (probably shouldn’t wear dark-colored hair accessories but whatever).
Lastly, I just really loved my lipstick combo and technique here so I wanted to share it with you all. I filled in my lips entirely with this lip liner from Charlotte Tilbury (in Pillow Talk) then put my new lipstick from Makeup By Mario (in Broadway) over top.
Have a great weekend, everyone! Take a nap! Go on a walk! Get your nails done! Have some wine!

I read the list of actors/actresses from Mobland too quickly and initially thought Helen Keller was starring it, and was like - wait, what?
