Weekly Update: Reno(vation) 911!
"Reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it, release your inhibitions, feel the rain on your skin..."
“Unwritten” is in my head this morning because we are so fucking close to the end of this reno, I can literally almost taste it. It’s been a long 8 weeks of loud noises, so much dust, endless paint fumes, and being a prisoner in my own home all while growing a baby and helping a highly anxious Cece take deep breaths to get through it all (Bowie couldn’t GAF).
Before I share all the updates from this past week (there are so many?), it would be remiss of me not to quickly run down everything we grabbed from The Container Store over the long weekend during their BOGO 50% off sale that’s STILL GOING ON TODAY. They extended it, so today’s your last chance to make the most of everything they have to offer before it’s back to regular pricing tomorrow.
In no particular order, here are all the little organizational things we loaded up on for our new setup:
Obviously, this “plastic bag” (AKA Ziploc) drawer organizer that made me feel like I’ve reached peak adulthood
A few of these 3-tier expanding shelves for our pantry
This over-the-sink stainless steel strainer basket. SO CONVENIENT.
A divided turntable for sauces, vinegars, and all other sorts of bottles
Two of these 2-tier stackable shoe racks to live near the front door because we are now a (GASP) “NO SHOES” household. I never planned to be one, and I have conflicting feelings about it. More on that later.
An expandable utensil drawer organizer that fit every last fork, spoon, knife, straw, bottle opener, and every other smaller utensil we own
This in-drawer knife organizer. Never in my life did I imagine I’d have one of these. I’ve arrived.
A few stacking bins for drawers and the pantry
So many of these individual drawer organizers to Tetris into our new drawers and ensure everything has a spot.
A tiny trash can for next to the washer so we can clean the lint trap and dispose of it right there. It’s the little things.
I *think* that’s it, but also feel I’m missing a few things. We made back-to-back trips to TCS, so everything’s a bit foggy, but what I can tell you is we had a great time both times, and everything we purchased is already making our new kitchen that much better.
Okay, now for a breakdown of what happened at the house this week (like realizing our original paint color for the nursery was horrific and having to call an audible mid-process 🙃) and what we’re getting into this week.
