It’s funny1 to me when I see women write about being able to wear their normal clothes far into their pregnancies, because by week 8, I could no longer button my pants. And I’m not talking they were tight — I’m talking the buttons were on opposite sides of my body. They were in a long distance relationship, living across the country that is my body from each other. They never stood a chance.

I mentioned this in my first volume of The Pregnancy Diaries, but I gained weight fast. I was already the heaviest I’ve ever been (for me), and since carbs were literally the only thing that sounded okay the first several weeks of gestation and I was ravenous, it took me no time to put on 15 pounds. The weight gain has slowed down significantly, but I wasted no time loading up on pregnancy clothes because I’m not too proud and I would much rather drop dollars and feel comfortable and cute than force myself into things that don’t fit or wear the same pair of sweatpants every single day.

Some women are weird about maternity clothes — they view it as a waste of money and find workarounds throughout their pregnancies. That’s not me. First of all, I don’t know if y’all know this, but I LOVE to shop. Secondly, re-selling things on Poshmark or at secondhand stores is a task I’m familiar with and a chore I don’t mind. Thirdly, I will (God-willing) get a second round of use out of all these purchases!

So, with that, I wanted to share everything I’ve bought so far this pregnancy in case you find yourself pregnant and open to clothing suggestions.
