The 📖📺🎧🔪🛍️ List
Full frontal nudity, cool Skechers (yes, SKECHERS), fabulust bras, and more!
Even though it’s Friday, and even though it’s almost October, it’s still in the high 90s here, and I AM NOT IN THE MOOD. Two weeks from tomorrow, Zac and I leave for our one year wedding anniversary trip to Guerneville, CA, and to say we’re both excited to be in weather that’s 75º during the day and 50º at night is the understatement of the year. I LITCH-ERALLY cannot wait.
Until then, though, let’s talk about what I’ve been watching, listening to, and shopping the past few weeks.
WATCHING 📺
We have watched a few episode of this show very, very casually. We don’t love it; let me be clear on that. Basically, no one — and I mean NO ONE — can do what The Fab Five do. And that’s not to say that these four are trying to emulate them, but in a way, they are. But isn’t everyone? Anyway, this team works with incredibly small and awkward spaces in homes that need to do a lot more than they currently are. Think unfinished basements, kitchens that can barely hold a sink, and houses shaped like literal domes. I don’t love any of the hosts and their mutual love for electronic and robotic solutions is a little much, but it’s an easy, mindless watch if you like home reno shows and need something new.
I fucking love Glow Up so much. I’ve watched every season and get giddy when a new one rolls out. I mean, DING DONG, DARLING! These are not just MUAs, miluv. They are strictly Artists who can seemingly do anything you ask them to. This season was great, even though I knew from episode one who the winner was going to be. I will say, though, I don’t know why they change the host every season. That’s a bit annoying, and I felt this season’s host didn’t bring much to the table personality-wise. Other than that, though, it was fab.
Naked Attraction
If you caught my IG stories earlier this week, you already know about Naked Attraction and my reaction to it. This is a FULL FRONTAL NUDITY DATING SHOW out of the UK that I had several people tell me airs on PRIME TIME in the UK. This is not porn. It’s not an after-hours show. It’s primetime television with all the dicks and boobies and vaginas one could ever hope for. When I tell you Zac and I were legitimately shocked to discover NOTHING is censored…
The premise of the show is that one contestant is brought out (fully clothed) and JUDGES six other ass-naked contestants by their bodies alone to decide who they want to go on a date with. The first round is genitalia and down. Second round is mid-section and down. The third round is full face and body. Then, they get to talk so the contestant can hear their voice. Then, when it’s down to the last two contenders, the contestant has to get ass-naked and let them judge he/she. Guys. It’s… absolutely the most wild thing I’ve ever seen and kinda disturbing on a lot of levels.
To think that these men and women are being rejected solely off how their vagina looks or how their penis hangs is just… too much. It’s so vulnerable and in-your-face and I don’t know how the fuck to feel about any of it. We watched one episode and will probably1 never watch another.
LISTENING TO 🎧
On my road trip to Austin last weekend, I listened to two podcast episodes back-to-back that I loved equally as much.
The first was The Real Pod, which I don’t listen to weekly, but when I saw she was interviewing Not Skinny But Not Fat (AKA Amanda Hirsch), I immediately downloaded the episode. I LOVE Amanda. I’m sure people feel like this about me, but I truly feel that Amanda is my people and we would legitimately get along very well IRL. Hearing her on Real Pod solidified that — she was honest, raw, cussed like a sailor, and was completely true to herself and who she is. I loved every second of it.
The second podcast episode I listened to was actually Amanda’s! Just like with Real Pod, I don’t listen to Not Skinny But Not Fat’s podcast religiously; it depends entirely on the guest. Last week, she interviewed Elizabeth Chambers (AKA Armie Hammer’s ex-wife, AKA the creator of Bird Bakery), and I fell in love. Elizabeth is a fucking force, guys. She is a very successful, self-made woman who doesn’t take shit from anyone. Their conversation was so good and she allowed Amanda to ask her pointed questions about Armie and their divorce, which she answered honestly and beautifully. I gasped when she said they were in intensive therapy with the Esther Perel before calling it quits. It’s a great episode — I recommend it.
SHOPPING 🛍️
Ya girl has been shopping (NOT WITH NUULY) lately, so we have a lot to go over.
I’ve having a moment with bras lately. I feel like I do this once a year — I go on a quest for new bras, and I’m happy to say I’ve been incredibly successful this quest with two completely different bras.
The first is this super sexy, see-through number from Negative Underwear that
(AKA thegrandapt who also has a Substack) posted on her IG stories the other week. I doubted their support just from the looks of them, but as soon as I ordered one and got it in the mail, I understood why she loves these bras. They are, again, super sexy but also incredibly functional and hold the ladies in well. They’re very pricey, but your tits deserve it. I am a 34DDD and the size 4 fits me perfectly! The second bra is this very unsexy, straightforward, everyday bra by aerie. I spotted it during the LTK sale last week, ordered a 34DDD, and wasd BLOWN AWAY by how perfectly it fits. There are no bells or whistles with this bra — it has wire, cups, and is minimally lined. Looks great under a t-shirt. Comfortable. Cheap. I love it and recommend it.
My dear friend, Amy Jackson of Fashion Jackson, realized her lifelong dream of creating her own clothing line from the ground up and launched MAYSON the label earlier this month. Amy did this all on her own with no funding, no investing — just her dream and her money. I am beyond proud of her and, after receiving my first two pieces from MAYSON this week, can attest to how incredible these clothes are. You can check out the pieces I got here (both in a medium), and use code EMMA15 for 15% off your entire purchase! Or, if you’re eyeing one of her sweaters or scarves, they’re 25% off right now with code SWEATERS25.
Last weekend in Austin, my sis and I visited the Everlane store and I walked away with this dress and this sweater. The dress surprised me; it is not a hanger dress, that’s for sure. It looked like it could be a shapeless mess, but the way the chest and waist are snatched actually accentuate your curves while keeping you free flowing and comfortable underneath. It was everything I didn’t know I needed in a dress, and I want to get another color. It runs big, so size down one from your typical (I got a small). The sweater is just perfect for fall/winter, and I wish I was very rich so I could have one in every color. I got the heather charcoal color, and it runs BIG. Like big, big. I got an XS.
We also popped into Reformation, and I walked away with this extremely flattering top. Like whoa. The little slit in the chest really opens it up and flatters the girls. It’s a form-fitting top and looks good on it’s own or with a blazer or jacket over it. Can’t wait to layer it this fall! I took a large.
I took a leap of faith ordering this cozy hoodie and was PLEASANTLY surprised. Even Zac goes “Oh, that’s cool” when I walked out in it the other night. It’s the perfect amount of oversized, super comfortable and, well, cool. Highly recommend! I got a small.
This is random considering I’ve only talked about clothes, but in case anyone is in the market for a small food processor, I got this one from Amazon and love it so much. I had one for many years and it finally crapped out, so I promptly replaced it with this guy and it’s super powerful.
Finally, I saw a girl in a coffee shop wearing these sneakers over the weekend and my eyes about bugged out of my head when I realized they were Skechers. “Skechers?” I asked in disbelief. “Really?!” We got into a whole conversation about it and she sent the link to my sister and I, who both promptly ordered a pair. Guys, they are… so comfortable? And SO cute? And SUPER cool? Consider my flabber fully ghasted.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend, whatever it is you have planned. Thank you for subscribing to The Weekly Digress and, if you’re feeling supportive, considering upgrading to the paid side of things to help make my writing-whatever-I-want dreams stay alive!

I said probably.
Glow up is always a win, but their host this season, as you spoke of, was just eww for me. There was a whole slew of people that agreed with us and don't want her back. The Mayson line is so good!
The SMOOTHEZ bras are amazing!
